    My soul for a full-figured woman’s earring of emerald,

    Green, of whose beauty the bird of praise has sung.

    وَتَحتهُ جيدُها وَالنورُ مِنهُ وَضَح

    It has taken its place beside her face, keeping it company;

    And beneath it is her neck, and light shines clear from it.

    And one side of it mirrors the rose of her cheek,

    So it reddened from that, and joy delighted the onlookers.

    So look: beside the rising sun you will see

    A rainbow that has appeared above the pillar of dawn.
