My beloved turned away from me toward estrangement,
My beloved has turned away from me to harshness
and wounded me most grievously with his coldness.
And with his harshness he has deeply wounded me
قُلتُI said مُذas طالَpersisted ميلهhis inclination لِجَفائيtoward shunning me
قُلتُ مُذ طالَ ميله لِجَفائي

إِنَّ فيهِ مَيلاً بِدونِ نِهايَه
I said, as his inclination to shun me persisted:
Since he began turning to harshness with me
“Indeed, in him is an inclination without end.”
I said, his leaning to my harshness is without end
