جَفانِيَhas shunned me الحِبُّthe beloved لَيسَdoes not يُريدُwish ذِكريto mention me
جَفانِيَ الحِبُّ لَيسَ يُريدُ ذِكري
وَلاnor يُبديdoes he show إِلىto ذِكريmention of me اِلتِفاتاany attention
وَلا يُبدي إِلى ذِكري اِلتِفاتا
My beloved has shunned me; he does not wish to mention me,
Nor does he pay any heed to the mention of me.
وَإِنّيand I indeed أَرتَضيam content with مَوتيmy death لَعلِّيperhaps I
وَإِنّي أَرتَضي مَوتي لَعلِّي
لَدَيهِin his presence إِذاwhen ذُكِرتI am mentioned يَقولُhe says ماتاhe has died
لَدَيهِ إِذا ذُكِرت يَقولُ ماتا
And I would accept my death, in the hope that,
When I am mentioned in his presence, he might say, 'He has died.'
