كمْ مدّعٍ فضلَ عِلمٍ

كمْ مدّعٍ فضلَ عِلمٍ

وعِلمُهُ علمُ سَقْطِ

وعِلمُهُ علمُ سَقْطِ

Many a man claims excellence in learning,

How many a boaster claims knowledge

Yet his learning is that of a worthless fellow.

Yet his knowledge is faulty

فتارةٍ لم يصيبَن

فتارةٍ لم يصيبَن

وَتارَةً كانَ يُخطي

وَتارَةً كانَ يُخطي

So at one time he failed to hit the mark,

At times he misses the mark

And at another he would err.

At others he goes astray
