ألا يا مصطفى شلبي — Mufti Fathallah — Saqi

أَلا يا مُصطَفى شَلبي
أَخا المَعروفِ وَالأدبِ
Lo, O Mustafa Shalabi,
brother of kindness and refinement,
وَربّ المَجدِ في شَرفٍ
كَريمَ النّفسِ وَالحسبِ
and master of glory, high in honor,
noble in soul and lineage,
خَدين الفَضلِ خِدن تُقى
سَليمَ القَصدِ والأربِ
companion of excellence, companion of piety,
sound in purpose and desire.
شَفاكَ اللَّه خالِقنا
مِنَ الآلامِ وَالوصبِ
May God, our Creator, heal you
of pains and illness.
وَتَخلو الدّهرَ عافِيةً
وَعَنك الدّهرَ لم تغبِ
And may you remain in good health forever,
and may it never leave you throughout your days:
خَلِيَّ الجِسمِ مِن مَرضٍ
سَليمَ القَلبِ مَن كربِ
your body free of disease,
your heart safe from anguish,
نَقِيَّ العَيشِ مِن كَدرٍ
سَليمَ الذاتِ مِن عَطبِ
your life pure and free of trouble,
your person safe from harm,
طَويلَ العمرِ في نعمٍ
عَليّ القَدرِ وَالرتبِ
long-lived amid blessings,
lofty in standing and rank.
شَكوت الآنَ مِن وَصبٍ
وَمِنه صِرت بالوصِبِ
You have now complained of illness,
and because of it have become unwell.
وَربّك مِن مَحبّتهِ
يُصيبُ العَبد بِالوصبِ
And your Lord, out of His love,
afflicts the servant with illness,
لإِعلاءٍ لَهُ درجاً
بِجنّته بِلا ريبِ
to raise him in rank
in His Paradise, without doubt,
وَتَكفيرٍ لسيّئةٍ
كَما قَد قالَ خَير نبي
and to expiate a sin,
as the best of prophets has said,
وَإِكثار الثّواب لَهُ
وَذاكَ عَليهِ لَم يجبِ
and to increase his reward,
though this is not incumbent upon Him.
فَدُم وَاِسلَم بِعافيةٍ
بِلا هَمٍّ وَلا تعبِ
So live on, and stay safe in good health,
without worry or fatigue.
