فيهِمُamong them إِذwhen مَرَرتI passed قَدindeed لاحَظونيthey eyed me
فيهِمُ إِذ مَرَرت قَد لاحَظوني
Indeed, my watchers are facing my beloved.
My love for him they noticed
When I passed among them, they eyed me.
As I passed by they spied on me
مُنذsince بَينَamong اللواحِthe gazers صِرتI came to be وَحِبّيand my beloved
مُنذ بَينَ اللواحِ صِرت وَحِبّي
قلتI said وَيحيwoe to me قتلتI was slain بَينَamid العُيونِthe eyes
قلت وَيحي قتلت بَينَ العُيونِ
Since my beloved and I came to be among the gazers,
Since between the branches I fell in love
I said, 'Woe to me! I was slain amid eyes.'
I said woe is me, slain between the eyes
