إِنَّindeed عُذّاليmy reproachers أَخبَرونيthey told me فَقالواso they said
إِنَّ عُذّالي أَخبَروني فَقالوا
قَدalready سَرىcrept الشّيبgray hair فيin عِذارِsideburns الحَبيبِthe beloved
قَد سَرى الشّيب في عِذارِ الحَبيبِ
Indeed, my reproachers told me, saying:
My censors told me they said:
Gray hair has crept through the beloved's sideburns.
Gray hair has spread in the beloved's excuse.
وَمِنَand out of العشقِlove حيثُnow that شابَturned gray عِذاراًsideburns
وَمِنَ العشقِ حيثُ شابَ عِذاراً
كَرَّمَmay He honor اللَّهُGod وَجهَهُhis face بِالمَشيبِwith gray hair
كَرَّمَ اللَّهُ وَجهَهُ بِالمَشيبِ
And out of love, now that his sideburns have grayed:
And from passion whereby he excused youthfully,
May God honor his face with gray hair.
God has honored his face with gray hair.
