إِنْ تَصِرْ سَيِّداً وَجيهَ أناسٍ

إِنْ تَصِرْ سَيِّداً وَجيهَ أناسٍ

فائتِ في نَفعِهم تُعَدُّ نَبيها

If you become a leader, a notable among people,

If you seek to be a leader of repute among people,

then work for their benefit, and you will be deemed distinguished.

Striving for their benefit, you'll be deemed a prophet.

كُلُّ قَومٍ وَجيههم لَم يُعِنْهم

كُلُّ قَومٍ وَجيههم لَم يُعِنْهم

فَوَجيهٌ أَن لا يَكونَ وَجيها

فَوَجيهٌ أَن لا يَكونَ وَجيها

For any people whose notable has not helped them,

Every tribe whose leader brought them no advantage,

it is fitting that he should not be a notable.

His being a leader was surely disadvantage.
