إِذا عَذوليَ فَرطَ الحبِّ أَنكرهُ

إِذا عَذوليَ فَرطَ الحبِّ أَنكرهُ

مِنّي وَقالَ خَلّي ما له شَغَفُ

مِنّي وَقالَ خَلّي ما له شَغَفُ

If my reproacher denies the excess of love

When he denied his excessive love for me

in me, and says, 'My friend has no passion,'

And said, "Leave me be, why this passion?"

فَالوَجدُ وَالذّلُّ وَالتّبريحُ تَشهدُ لي

فَالوَجدُ وَالذّلُّ وَالتّبريحُ تَشهدُ لي

وَالسّقمُ وَالدّمعُ وَالتّسهيد والكَلفُ

وَالسّقمُ وَالدّمعُ وَالتّسهيد والكَلفُ

then yearning, abasement, and torment bear witness for me,

Agony, humiliation, and longing testify for me,

and sickness, tears, sleeplessness, and infatuation.

As do sickness, tears, sighing, and distress.
