بِروحِيَwith my soul (as ransom) ماءُwater الحُسنِbeauty راقَbecame clear; gleamed بِوَجهِهاupon her face
بِروحِيَ ماءُ الحُسنِ راقَ بِوَجهِها
وَمِنهاand from her جَرىflowed ماءُwater الحَياءِmodesty بِخدَّينِupon two cheeks
وَمِنها جَرى ماءُ الحَياءِ بِخدَّينِ
I would give my soul for the water of beauty that gleamed upon her face.
With my spirit the water of beauty flowed on her face
And from her the water of modesty flowed upon two cheeks.
And from it ran the water of shyness on her cheeks

For in her face I have beheld two suns, if she appears
So on her face are two suns I inhaled when they rose
by day; and if by night, I see in it two full moons.
By day and by night in it I see two moons
