بيwith my life as ransom شَفَتاهاher two lips فَوقَabove ثَغرٍa mouth بَداappeared
بي شَفَتاها فَوقَ ثَغرٍ بَدا
صَغيرِsmall حَجمٍsize فيهِwithin it أَسنىthe most radiant الدُّرَرْthe pearls
صَغيرِ حَجمٍ فيهِ أَسنى الدُّرَرْ
I would give my life for her lips above a mouth revealed,
Her lips above a mouth appeared
small in size, with the most radiant pearls within.
Small in size, in it the pearls' teeth
بَدرٌa full moon غَداhas come to be فيهِin it لَهاfor her آيةa wondrous sign
بَدرٌ غَدا فيهِ لَها آية
إِنif تَبتَسِمshe smiles يَبدوappears اِنشِقاقُthe splitting of القَمَرthe moon
إِن تَبتَسِم يَبدو اِنشِقاقُ القَمَر
A full moon, in which she now has a wondrous sign:
A full moon that became in it a sign for her
if she smiles, the splitting of the moon appears.
If she smiles the moon's splitting appears
