أَرى زَمَني كَالصَّيفِ قد زادَ حَرُّهُ

أَرى زَمَني كَالصَّيفِ قد زادَ حَرُّهُ

وكلُّ الخبايا فيه من حُجره بُزْغُ

وكلُّ الخبايا فيه من حُجره بُزْغُ

I see my time as summer, its heat grown fiercer;

I see my time like summer, its heat has increased

And all the hidden things within it emerge from its chambers.

And all snakes in it have crept out of their lairs

فَما أَهلهُ إِلّا الذّئابُ وَعَقربٌ

فَما أَهلهُ إِلّا الذّئابُ وَعَقربٌ

وَأَفعى وَحيّاتٌ وَأَضعَفُهم وزغُ

وَأَفعى وَحيّاتٌ وَأَضعَفُهم وزغُ

Its people are nothing but wolves and a scorpion,

So none live there except wolves and scorpions

And a viper and snakes; the weakest among them are geckos.

And vipers, snakes, and the weakest of them, the worm
