رَأَيتُI saw شُعاعَthe ray الشّمسِthe sun قَبّلkissed رِجلَهُhis foot
وَأَكثَرَand increased لِلتّعظيمِfor veneration فيهاupon it اِلتِثاماkissing
I saw the sun’s ray kiss his foot,
I saw a sunbeam kiss his foot,
and shower it with kisses in reverence.
And linger there in deep respect.
فَشَمسُfor the sun الضّحىthe morning لَمnot تَستَطِعshe could مِنfrom سَمائِهاher sky
نُزولاًto descend لِذاfor this التّقبيلِthe kissing مِنهاon her part اِحتِراماout of reverence
For the morning sun could not, from her sky,
The morning sun could not descend
descend to offer this kiss as a mark of her reverence.
From her high throne to pay respect
فَقَبّلso kissed تِلكَthat الرِّجلَthe foot عَنهاon her behalf شعاعهاher ray
وَعَنهاand on her behalf عَلىupon رِجلَيهِhis two feet لَثماًto kiss تَرامىflung itself
So her ray kissed that foot on her behalf,
To that dear foot. Her warming ray
and on her behalf flung itself upon his feet to kiss them.
Instead came down and kissed his feet.
