نَظَرتُI looked إِليهاat her فَاِستَحلَّتso she deemed lawful بنظرةٍwith a glance
حِجايَmy reason كَذاlikewise روحيmy soul وَطابَand was pleasing لَهاto her السلبُthe plunder
I looked at her, and with a glance she deemed it lawful to seize
I looked at her, so she was made lawful with a glance,
my reason and likewise my soul; the plunder pleased her.
Thus my modesty, and likewise my soul, and plunder suited her,
وَسَلّتand she unsheathed سُيوفswords اللَّحظِof the glance إِذas سَفَكتshe shed بهاwith them
دَميmy blood وَدَميand my blood غالٍprecious فَأَرخَصهُso made it cheap الحبُّlove
And she unsheathed the swords of her glance, as she shed with them
And the swords of the glance unsheathed when it shed with them
my blood; my blood is precious, yet love made it cheap.
My blood, and my blood is dear, so love made it cheap,
وَغالَيتُand I went to excess فيin حبِّيmy love لَهاfor her وَرَأَتand she saw دَميmy blood
عَلىupon وَجنَتيmy cheek مِنfrom مُقلَتَيِّmy two eyes لَهof it صَبُّan outpouring
And I loved her to excess, and she saw my blood
And I was precious in my love for her, and she saw my blood
upon my cheek, pouring from my two eyes.
On my cheek from my eyes shedding for him drops,
عَلىto غَيرِهاanyone but her يَغلوit is dear وَقَدand indeed صارَit became عِندَهاto her
رَخيصاًcheap فَمنso from هَذينthese two داخِلهاcame over her العجبُwonder
To anyone but her it is dear, yet to her it has become
For another he is too precious, yet to her
cheap; so these two things filled her with wonder.
It became cheap, so which of these two amazes her more?
