ياO! حُسنَbeauty of عَينٍa spring مِنof زلالٍlimpid water ماؤُهاits water
يا حُسنَ عَينٍ مِن زلالٍ ماؤُها
مِنهاfrom it حَلاbecame sweet لِلوارِدينَfor those coming for water الشُّربُthe drinking
مِنها حَلا لِلوارِدينَ الشُّربُ
How lovely a spring whose water is limpid!
O beauty of an eye whose water is pure
Drinking from it is sweet to those who come for water.
From it the weary find sweet drink
وَبِعَينِand as the Spring of عافوصٍʿĀfūṣ تَسَمَّتit was named وَاِغتَدىand became
وَبِعَينِ عافوصٍ تَسَمَّت وَاِغتَدى
فيهاin it لِبانيهاfor its builder يُسَرُّis gladdened القلبُthe heart
فيها لِبانيها يُسَرُّ القلبُ
And it was named the Spring of ʿĀfūṣ, and became
And from Ain Afaus it was built and settled
a joy to its builder’s heart.
In it the heart of its builder finds joy
يَجزيهِmay He reward him رَبّيmy Lord مِنَّةًas a gracious favor خَيرَthe best of الجزاrewards
يَجزيهِ رَبّي مِنَّةً خَيرَ الجزا
وَيَنالُهُand may it reach him مِنهُfrom Him الرّضاfavor وَالقربُand nearness
وَيَنالُهُ مِنهُ الرّضا وَالقربُ
May my Lord graciously grant him the finest reward,
May my Lord reward him the best reward
and may His favor and nearness reach him.
And grant him contentment and nearness
هَذيthis وَقَدand already حَفَّتwas encircled بِتاريخٍby a chronogram سَماwas exalted
هَذي وَقَد حَفَّت بِتاريخٍ سَما
عينٌa spring بِهاin it ماءٌwater مَعينٌflowing عذبُsweet
عينٌ بِها ماءٌ مَعينٌ عذبُ
This, already encircled by a lofty chronogram,
This one is marked with a date like the sky
is a spring with sweet, flowing water.
