جَفاهُhis coldness أَذابَmelted قَلبيmy heart
جَفاهُ أَذابَ قَلبي
وَأَضحىand it became بِهِbecause of it عَليلاailing
وَأَضحى بِهِ عَليلا
His coldness melted my heart,
His indifference melted my heart,
And it grew ailing because of it.
And left it sick and frail.
وَمِنهُand from him الجَفاcoldness كَثيرٌabundant
وَمِنهُ الجَفا كَثيرٌ
وَقَدand indeed عَدَّهُhe deemed it قليلاlittle
وَقَد عَدَّهُ قليلا
And much coldness comes from him,
He was very indifferent,
Yet he has deemed it little.
Yet thought it was little.
