فَإِنfor if كُنتَyou are تَأتيyou bring بِالّذيwith what قَدmay أُريدُهُI desire it
فَإِن كُنتَ تَأتي بِالّذي قَد أُريدُهُ
فَأَنتَthen you بَليغٌeloquent شاعرُpoet of الدهرِthe age ماهرُskilled
فَأَنتَ بَليغٌ شاعرُ الدهرِ ماهرُ
For if you bring what I may desire,
If you bring what I desire
Then you are eloquent, a skilled poet of the age.
Then you are eloquent, the poet of time, skillful
وَإِنand if كُنتَyou are تَأتيyou bring بِالَّذيwith what قَدmay تُريدُهُyou desire it
وَإِن كُنتَ تَأتي بِالَّذي قَد تُريدُهُ
فَماthen not أَنتَyou بَينَamong النّاسthe people فيin الدّهرِall time شاعرُa poet
فَما أَنتَ بَينَ النّاس في الدّهرِ شاعرُ
And if you bring what you may desire,
And if you bring what you desire
Then you are no poet among people, ever.
Then you are not, among people in time, a poet
