قَدindeed هِمتُI have fallen madly in love فيهِwith him جَوىlove’s anguish وَوَجداًand longing
قَد هِمتُ فيهِ جَوى وَوَجداً
عَلَيهِupon him نورُthe light الجَمالِof beauty ساطِعْshining
عَلَيهِ نورُ الجَمالِ ساطِعْ
Indeed, I have fallen madly in love with him, in anguish and longing.
Upon him the light of beauty shines.
لَوif أَنّهُthat he فيin زَمانِthe time of نوحٍNoah
لَو أَنّهُ في زَمانِ نوحٍ
جاءَcame اِبنُthe son of نوحٍNoah إِلَيهِto him راكِعbowing
جاءَ اِبنُ نوحٍ إِلَيهِ راكِع
Had he been in the time of Noah,
Noah’s son would have come to him, bowing.
