You went to Jerusalem with earnest effort,

Striving in your journey and travel.

You entered it as a visitor,

So you gained nearness as you drew near.

There you offered a prayer for good,

    Not veiled from God.

And you returned from it with gladdened eyes,

    To Damascus, without a doubt.

So you rested there and, in all truth,

    Forgot your toil upon returning,

And hardship and exertion—record the date:

And you returned with recompense and reward.
