جَمالُ الكَمالِ كَمالُ الجَمال

جَمالُ الكَمالِ كَمالُ الجَمال

عَديمُ المِثالِ بِهَذي الأممْ

عَديمُ المِثالِ بِهَذي الأممْ

The beauty of perfection, the perfection of beauty,

without equal among these nations.

وَبَدر المَعالِ رَفيعٍ وَعال

وَبَدر المَعالِ رَفيعٍ وَعال

وَفي كلِّ حالٍ هوَ البدرُ تَمْ

وَفي كلِّ حالٍ هوَ البدرُ تَمْ

And the full moon of eminence, lofty and exalted,

and in every state he is the moon in its fullness.

جَميلُ الخِصالِ وَقبلَ السّؤال

جَميلُ الخِصالِ وَقبلَ السّؤال

غَزيرُ النّوالِ وَبحر الكَرمْ

غَزيرُ النّوالِ وَبحر الكَرمْ

Beautiful in character, and before being asked,

lavish in giving, and an ocean of generosity.

ذَكيٌّ فَهومٌ وَشَمسُ العَلوم

ذَكيٌّ فَهومٌ وَشَمسُ العَلوم

بِضَوءِ الفُهومِ يُزيل الظّلمْ

بِضَوءِ الفُهومِ يُزيل الظّلمْ

Intelligent, discerning, and a sun of learning,

with the light of understanding he dispels the darkness.

وَمُحيي الرّسومِ لِكلِّ العُلوم

وَمُحيي الرّسومِ لِكلِّ العُلوم

وَفيها يَقومُ عَلِيَّ الهِممْ

وَفيها يَقومُ عَلِيَّ الهِممْ

And a reviver of the traditions of all the sciences,

and in them he stands, lofty in aspiration.

جَمال النُّجومِ أَهالي الفُهوم

جَمال النُّجومِ أَهالي الفُهوم

وَأَهل العلومِ أَهالي الحِكمْ

وَأَهل العلومِ أَهالي الحِكمْ

The adornment of the stars—the people of understanding—

and of the learned, the people of wisdom.

إِمامٌ فَريدٌ همامٌ وَحيد

إِمامٌ فَريدٌ همامٌ وَحيد

بِشَكلٍ سَعيدٍ بِحُسن الشّيمْ

بِشَكلٍ سَعيدٍ بِحُسن الشّيمْ

A peerless imam, a man of resolve without equal,

with an auspicious bearing and beautiful traits.

وَجيه مَجيد بِعزمٍ شَديد

وَجيه مَجيد بِعزمٍ شَديد

لِخلقٍ حَميدٍ حَوى وَاِتَّسمْ

لِخلقٍ حَميدٍ حَوى وَاِتَّسمْ

Esteemed, illustrious, with steadfast resolve,

possessed of praiseworthy character and marked by it.

وَشَهم رَشيد بِذهنٍ حَديد

وَشَهم رَشيد بِذهنٍ حَديد

بِرَأيٍ سَديد عَليهِ اِرتَسمْ

بِرَأيٍ سَديد عَليهِ اِرتَسمْ

And noble and judicious, with a keen mind,

with sound judgment imprinted upon him.

وَسيمٌ وَجيه بِدونِ شَبيه

وَسيمٌ وَجيه بِدونِ شَبيه

نَبيل نَبيه حَكيم حَكَمْ

نَبيل نَبيه حَكيم حَكَمْ

Handsome, esteemed, without peer,

noble, discerning, a sage and an arbiter.

نَقيّ فَقيهٌ سَما الفِقه فيه

نَقيّ فَقيهٌ سَما الفِقه فيه

وَربّي يَقيهُ جَميعَ السّقمْ

وَربّي يَقيهُ جَميعَ السّقمْ

Pure, a jurist in whom jurisprudence is exalted,

and may my Lord protect him from every illness.

كَريمٌ نَزيهٌ فَمَن يَعتَليه

كَريمٌ نَزيهٌ فَمَن يَعتَليه

وَفيهِ تَتيهُ مَعالي الهِممْ

وَفيهِ تَتيهُ مَعالي الهِممْ

Generous, upright—who, then, can surpass him?

And in him the heights of aspiration take pride.

رَفيع الجَنابِ رَحيب الرّحاب

رَفيع الجَنابِ رَحيب الرّحاب

وَبَحر عباب إِذا ما اِلتَطمْ

وَبَحر عباب إِذا ما اِلتَطمْ

Lofty in standing, spacious in his courts,

and a surging sea when its waves clash.

بَديع الخِطابِ سَريع الجَواب

بَديع الخِطابِ سَريع الجَواب

بِسلكِ الصّوابِ تَراهُ اِنتَظمْ

بِسلكِ الصّوابِ تَراهُ اِنتَظمْ

Wondrous in speech, swift in reply,

you see him strung on the thread of rightness.

إِذا ما أَجابَ أَتى بِالعجاب

إِذا ما أَجابَ أَتى بِالعجاب

بِدونِ اِرتيابٍ وَدونَ وَهَمْ

بِدونِ اِرتيابٍ وَدونَ وَهَمْ

Whenever he answers, he brings wonders,

without doubt and without error.

بَديع الزّمانِ بَليغ الأَوان

بَديع الزّمانِ بَليغ الأَوان

لَآلي الجُمانِ بِعقد نظمْ

لَآلي الجُمانِ بِعقد نظمْ

The wonder of the age, the eloquent man of his time,

pearl upon pearl he has strung into a necklace.

قَويّ الجَنانِ فَصيحُ اللّسان

قَويّ الجَنانِ فَصيحُ اللّسان

بِسحرِ البيانِ يَزينُ الحِكمْ

بِسحرِ البيانِ يَزينُ الحِكمْ

Strong of heart, eloquent of tongue,

with the magic of eloquence he adorns wise sayings.

رَشيقُ البنانِ بِهِ قَد أَبان

رَشيقُ البنانِ بِهِ قَد أَبان

حسانَ المَعانِ لِسانُ القَلَمْ

حسانَ المَعانِ لِسانُ القَلَمْ

Graceful of fingers—through him have been revealed

beautiful meanings by the tongue of the pen.

جَميل الصّفاتِ عَلى حُسنِ ذات

جَميل الصّفاتِ عَلى حُسنِ ذات

وَفيهِ السّمات لَها الحُسنُ عَمْ

وَفيهِ السّمات لَها الحُسنُ عَمْ

Beautiful in qualities as well as in person,

and in him are traits that beauty wholly pervades.

غَزيرُ الهِباتِ غَدت وَافِرات

غَزيرُ الهِباتِ غَدت وَافِرات

وَمِنهُ الصّلات تَفوقُ الديَمْ

وَمِنهُ الصّلات تَفوقُ الديَمْ

Lavish in gifts, which have grown abundant,

and his gifts surpass the steady rains.

خَدين الثّباتِ وَثَبت الثّقات

خَدين الثّباتِ وَثَبت الثّقات

وَعَنهُ فَهاتِ حِسان الشّيَمْ

وَعَنهُ فَهاتِ حِسان الشّيَمْ

A companion of steadfastness, and a stalwart among the trustworthy,

and of him, then, recount his beautiful traits.

بِهِ الفَضلُ تاهَ وَذا مُصطفاه

بِهِ الفَضلُ تاهَ وَذا مُصطفاه

أَدامَ علاه إلَه الأمَمْ

أَدامَ علاه إلَه الأمَمْ

In him excellence takes pride, and he is its chosen one.

May the God of the nations perpetuate his eminence,

وَخَيراً حَباهُ وَنيلَ مُناه

وَخَيراً حَباهُ وَنيلَ مُناه

وَوالى الإِلَه عَلَيهِ النّعَمْ

وَوالى الإِلَه عَلَيهِ النّعَمْ

and grant him goodness and the fulfillment of his wishes.

And may God continually bestow blessings upon him.

وَرَبّي حَماهُ وَأَفنى عِداه

وَرَبّي حَماهُ وَأَفنى عِداه

وَرَبّي كَفاه جَميعَ النّقَمْ

وَرَبّي كَفاه جَميعَ النّقَمْ

And may my Lord protect him and annihilate his enemies,

and may my Lord spare him every calamity.
