Upon the radiant rose of his cheeks there took shape,
Over the radiant roses of his cheeks, there took shape
in beauty, the lovers’ eyes as an arcade—
the lovers’ eyes—a canopy of beauty;

just as, through the intensity of love and longing,
just as, from the intensity of love and passion,
they circled his slender waist as a girdle.
they circled his slender waist like a girdle.
