لك يا مولاي بسطت يدي — Mufti Fathallah

لَكَ يا مَولايَ بَسطتُ يدي

وَعَليكَ إِلَهي مُعتَمدي

To You, my Master, I have stretched out my hand.

And upon You, my God, rests my trust.

فَاِنصُر دينَ الإِسلامِ كَذا

ملكَ الإِسلامِ على الأَبدِ

So grant victory to the religion of Islam, and likewise

to the king of Islam, for all eternity.

وَاِمنَحهُ بِالنّصرِ الوافي

وَلَهُ أَتحِف بِالإِسعافِ

Grant him complete victory,

and honor him with timely aid.

وَمِنَ الأَملاكِ بِآلافِ

فَاِمدُدهُ بِخَمسٍ بل وزِدِ

And with thousands of angels,

reinforce him with five thousand—nay, still more.

أَرشِدهُ كَإِرشادِ الخُلفا

خُلَفاءِ مُحمَّدنا الحُنَفا

Guide him as You guided the caliphs,

the upright successors of our Muhammad,

مَنْ قَد حازوا فيهِ الشَّرفا

وَعُلى الدّارينِ مِن الصمدِ

who indeed attained honor therein,

and exalted rank in both worlds from the Eternal Refuge.

وَاِمنَحهُ إِلَهي بِالفَتحِ

وَاِجعَل قُرَناه ذَوي النّصحِ

Grant him conquest, my God,

and make his companions sincere advisers.

وَأَنِط ما يفعلُ بِالنّجح

وَاِسلك فيهِ طرقَ الرّشدِ

Link what he does to success,

and set within him the paths of right guidance.

يا رَبِّ تَولَّ عِنايَتهُ

وَحِمايَتهُ وَصِيانَتهُ

My Lord, undertake his care,

his protection and preservation,

وَرِعايَتَهُ وَوقايَتهُ

وَكِفايَتهُ طولَ الأبدِ

his tending and safeguarding,

and the provision of his needs forever.

أَلهِمهُ الحِلمَ مَعَ العَدلِ

وَصَوابَ الرّأيِ مَعَ الفعلِ

Inspire him with forbearance and justice,

and sound judgment joined with action.

وَعَليهِ إِلَهي مِنَ الفَضلِ

وَالِ الإِمدادَ مَعَ المَددِ

And upon him, my God, from Your bounty,

continually bestow support and aid.

تَوِّجْهُ إِلَهي بِهَيبَتكا

أَلبِسهُ حُلَّةَ سَطوَتكا

Crown him, my God, with Your majesty;

clothe him in the robe of Your might.

وَأَنِلهُ العِزَّ بِعزَّتكا

وَلَه فَأَدِمهُ بِلا أمَدِ

Grant him honor through Your power,

and preserve it for him without end.

حَصِّنْهُ يا ربَّ القمرِ

بِجَميعِ الآيِ وَبِالسوَرِ

Fortify him, Lord of the moon,

with all the verses and the surahs.

وَأَعِذهُ يا ربَّ البشَرِ

مِن شَرِّ النافِثِ في العقدِ

Shelter him, Lord of humankind,

from the evil of one who blows into knots.

بِعَظيمِ صِفاتِك سَيِّدنا

وَبِأَقدسِ ذاتِك موجِدَنا

By Your mighty attributes, our Master,

and Your most holy Essence, our Creator,

أُنصرهُ يا مَن أَوجَدنا

وَأَنِلهُ النّصرَ مَدى المُدَدِ

grant him victory, You who brought us into being,

and bestow victory upon him through all ages.

وَكَذا بِالأَسماءِ الحُسنى

وَبِأَعظَمِها الأَسمى الأَسنى

Likewise, by the Most Beautiful Names,

and by their greatest, loftiest, most radiant,

يا رَبِّ عليكَ بِها يُثنى

بِصُنوفِ الحَمدِ بلا عدَدِ

by which, my Lord, You are praised

with countless forms of praise;

وَبِعَرشكَ رَبّي وَالكُرسي

وَالبدرِ الزّاهي وَالشَّمسِ

and by Your Throne, my Lord, and the Footstool,

the radiant full moon and the sun,

وَنُجوم تُدركُ بِالحِسِّ

بِالشُّهبِ أُعدَّت للرّصدِ

and stars perceived by the senses,

by the meteors prepared to keep watch;

بِاللّوحِ إِلَهي وَبِالقَلَمِ

وَبِما قَد خُطّ على الأممِ

by the Tablet, my God, and the Pen,

and by what has been inscribed concerning the nations,

مِثلَ الأَفعالِ وَكالكَلِمِ

لِجَزاءِ الروحِ والجسدِ

such as deeds and words,

for the recompense of soul and body;

بِسَماواتٍ وَبِأَفلاك

وَبِما فيها مِن أَملاكِ

by the heavens and the celestial spheres,

and by the angels within them,

أَهْلِ الطّاعاتِ النسّاكِ

مَن لَم يَعصوا أَمر الصّمدِ

those devoted to obedience, the devout worshippers,

who have not disobeyed the Eternal Refuge's command;

وَبِما قَد أنزلَ مِن كُتب

وَبِكلِّ الرّسلِ وَكلِّ نَبي

and by the scriptures He has sent down,

and all the messengers and every prophet,

وَبِكلِّ وَليٍّ مقتربِ

وَبِكلِّ إِمامٍ مُجتَهدِ

and every saint brought near,

and every imam exercising independent judgment;

وَبِأَحمدَ طهَ المُختارِ

أَلهادي نور الأَنوارِ

and by Ahmad, Ta-Ha, the Chosen One,

the guide, the light of lights,

وَكَذا بِالآلِ الأَطْهارِ

فَبِهم نُحبَى حلَّ العقَدِ

and likewise by the pure family;

through them we are granted the untying of knots.

بِإِمامِ الصّحبِ أَبي بَكرٍ

وَأَبي حَفصٍ عمرَ البَرِّ

By the leader of the Companions, Abu Bakr,

and Abu Hafs, virtuous Umar,

وَشَهيد الدارِ أَبي عَمرٍو

وَأَبي الحَسنينِ فَتى الأسدِ

and the martyr of the house, Abu Amr,

and Abu al-Hasanayn, the lionlike warrior;

وَكَذا بِالباقي مِنَ العشَرهْ

وَبِباقي الأَصحابِ البَرَرَهْ

and likewise by the remaining members of the Ten,

and the rest of the righteous Companions,

وَبِأَهلِ حُنين وَالشّجرهْ

وَذَوي بَدرٍ وَأولي أُحُدِ

and those of Hunayn and the Tree,

the men of Badr and those of Uhud.

ربِّ انصر يا ذا الإحسانِ

لِلسّلطانِ اِبنِ السّلطانِ

My Lord, grant victory, O Possessor of kindness,

to the sultan, son of the sultan,

محمودٍ مرتفع الشانِ

وَالصنديدِ البَطل الأسدِ

Mahmud, exalted in standing,

the stalwart champion, the lion,

وَمَليك مُلوك الأَعجامِ

وَالعُرْبِ وكلّ الحُكَّامِ

and king over the kings of non-Arabs,

the Arabs, and all rulers,

حاوي إِحكام الأَحْكامِ

وَعَنِ التّصويبِ فلم تَحِدِ

master of the firm execution of judgments;

and from sound judgment you have not swerved.

يا مَولانا كُن ناظرَهُ

دُم حافِظَه دُم ناصرَهُ

Our Master, watch over him;

remain his guardian, remain his helper.

وَاِنصُر يا ربِّ عَساكرَهُ

أَهل الأَسيافِ مَعَ الزردِ

Grant victory, my Lord, to his armies,

the men of swords and chain mail.

وَعَلى الأَروامِ ذَوي الكفرِ

أَصحابِ الشّرك أُولي الشرِّ

And against the Greeks, the unbelievers,

the adherents of polytheism, the evildoers,

أُمدُده إلَهي بِالنّصر

وَاِقطَع عَنهم كلّ المددِ

reinforce him, my God, with victory,

and cut off all their reinforcements.

صمّوا وَعموا عَن سبل هدى

من شركِهِمُ جهلوا الرّشدا

They grew deaf and blind to the paths of guidance;

through their polytheism they knew not the right way.

جَعلوا لَكَ يا ربّي وَلدا

وَتَعالى الربُّ عن الولدِ

They ascribed a child to You, my Lord—

exalted is the Lord above having a child.

وَعَليك إلَهي نعتمدُ

وَلِتَوحيدٍ لكَ نعتقدُ

On You, my God, we rely,

and we believe in Your oneness,

يا مَن أَنتَ اللَّه الأَحَدُ

لَم تولَد ربِّ ولم تلِدِ

O You who are God, the One.

You were not begotten, my Lord, nor did You beget.

لِحنانِك ربّي نَفتَقِرُ

وَالنّصر بِوعدكِ نَنتظرُ

We stand in need of Your tenderness, my Lord,

and await victory according to Your promise.

فَاِنصُرنا وَاِخذُل مَن كَفَروا

بِالقَهرِ أَمِتْهُمْ والكمدِ

So grant us victory and forsake those who have disbelieved;

put them to death by overwhelming force and anguish.

وَلِدينكَ ربّي فَاِنتَصرِ

وَخُذِ الأروامَ ولا تذرِ

And vindicate Your religion, my Lord;

seize the Greeks and spare none.

وَبِهم رَبِّ اِمنح بالظّفَرِ

لِذَوي الإِيمان أولي الرَّشدِ

And grant triumph over them, my Lord,

to the people of faith, the rightly guided.

قَومٌ لِلغَدرِ بِنا نَهَضوا

وَلِعقدِ الذّمّةِ قَد نَقضوا

A people rose up to betray us

and have broken the covenant of protection.

رَبّي نَرجو أَن يَنقَرِضوا

لا يَبقى مِنهُم ذو كَبِدِ

My Lord, we hope they will perish;

may no one with a liver remain among them.

بِالبَغيِ عَلى الحَربِ اِجتَهدوا

وَعَليهِ الآنَ لَقَد مَردوا

In aggression they have labored at war,

and now persist in it defiantly.

وَلِما عَمِلوا حقّاً يجدوا

لا يَظلِمُ ربّك مِن أحدِ

May they truly find what their deeds deserve;

your Lord wrongs no one.

لِسَفائِنهم ربّي غرِّقْ

وَلِجَمعِهِمُ رَبّي فرِّقْ

Sink their ships, my Lord;

scatter their gathered hosts, my Lord.

وَبِقَهركَ يا ربّي مزِّق

مِنهُم للجِلد مع الجلَدِ

With Your overwhelming might, my Lord, tear apart

their skin together with their fortitude.

قَلِّل يا ربّي ناصرَهُمْ

يا رَبِّ وَأعْمِ بَصائِرهم

Make their supporters few, my Lord;

my Lord, blind their inner sight.

وَاِجعَل يا ربِّ عَساكِرَهم

أُكْلَ الغِربان مع الأُسُدِ

Make their armies, my Lord,

food for ravens and lions.

أَفسِد ربّي آراءَهُمُ

نَكِّسْ يا ربِّ لواءَهُمُ

Corrupt their counsels, my Lord;

invert their banner, my Lord.

أَلبِس يا ربّي نِساءَهُمُ

سودَ الأَثوابِ مِنَ الكمدِ

Clothe their women, my Lord,

in black garments of sorrow.

أَضعِف يا ربّي قُوّتَهم

يا رَبّي وَاِكسِر شَوكَتُهم

Weaken their strength, my Lord;

my Lord, break their might.

يا ربّ وَقلِّلْ عِدّتهم

لا تُبقِ لَهم أَدنى عددِ

My Lord, reduce their numbers;

leave them not the smallest number.

يا رَبِّ وَقوِّ عَزائِمَنا

وَاِجعَلهُم ربّي غَنائِمنا

My Lord, strengthen our resolve;

make them our spoils, my Lord.

وقَنَانا ضَعْ وصوارمَنا

برقابِهِمِ ثمَّ الكبدِ

And set our lances and our keen swords

at their necks, then their livers.

بِالقَهرِ اِقهَرهُم يا قاهرْ

الأوّلَ مِنهُم والآخرْ

Overpower them with overwhelming force, O Subduer,

the first of them and the last.

وَلَنا أَظهِرْ بِاِسمِ الظاهرْ

وَتَفضّل يا ربّي وجُدِ

And make us prevail, by the name of the Manifest One;

show favor, my Lord, and be generous.

مَنْ غيرُكَ ربّي يَنصُرنا

وَبِهمْ يا ربِّ يظفّرنا

Who but You, my Lord, can grant us victory,

grant us triumph over them, my Lord,

وَعَليهِم ربّي يُظهِرنا

وَحَياتك ربّي لَم نجدُ

and make us prevail over them, my Lord?

And by Your life, my Lord, we have found none.

فَعَليهِم فَاِشدُد وَطأَتَنا

يا رَبِّ وَشَدّد بَطشَتَنا

So make our tread weigh heavily upon them;

my Lord, make our onslaught severe.

وَأَجِب يا ربِّ دَعوَتنا

فَإِلَيك بَسَطنا كلّ يدِ

Answer our supplication, my Lord,

for to You we have stretched out every hand.

وَصِلاتُ صَلاةِ الرّحمنِ

وَسَلامِ الربّ الحنّانِ

And may gifts of the All-Merciful's blessing

and of the tender Lord's peace

لِخِتامِ الرّسلِ العَدناني

ما الوُرقُ تغنّي بالغَرَدِ

be upon the seal of the messengers, the Adnanite,

as long as gray doves sing melodiously;

وَالآلِ الغُرِّ ذَوي المَجدِ

وَعَلى الأَصحابِ ذَوي الرفدِ

and upon the radiant family, possessed of glory,

and upon the Companions, possessors of bounty

وَالفتحِ وَيختمُ بِالحَمدِ

يرجو بهِمِ نيلَ الرشَدِ

and conquest; and he concludes with praise,

hoping through them to attain right guidance.
