وَكانَand had been النّوءُthe rainstorm طالَlasted long وَزادَand increased حيفاin oppression
The sky’s bow appeared in all its beauty,
And the rainstorm had lingered long and grown more oppressive.
فَلاso no عَجبwonder لِضَعفِat the weakening of النّوءِthe rainstorm عَزماًin resolve
فَقَدfor indeed سَلَّdrew السّحابthe clouds عَلَيهagainst it سَيفاa sword
So no wonder the rainstorm’s resolve weakened:
For the clouds had drawn a sword against it.
