في وَجهِهِ دامَ العذارُ وَحُسنهُ
أَخذَtook الجَمالbeauty عَنِfrom الكمالِperfection وَسَلسلهْand linked it in a chain
أَخذَ الجَمال عَنِ الكمالِ وَسَلسلهْ
On his face the cheek-down endures, and his beauty
Drew beauty from perfection and linked it in a chain.
قِنديلُa lamp ياقوتٍruby أَضاءَilluminated مَحاسِناًlovely features
قِنديلُ ياقوتٍ أَضاءَ مَحاسِناً
نَسَجَتwove علَيهِupon it مِنَof الزّمرُّدِemerald سِلسِلهa chain
نَسَجَت علَيهِ مِنَ الزّمرُّدِ سِلسِله
A ruby lamp illuminated lovely features
That wove upon it a chain of emerald.
