وَتُفّاحةٌand an apple حَمراءred فيin كفِّthe palm of ماجِدٍa noble man
لَقَدindeed شِمتُI beheld مِنهاfrom it الحُسنَbeauty أَنوَرَradiant ساطِعِshining
And a red apple in a noble man's palm—
Indeed, I beheld beauty in it, radiant and shining.
وَقَدand indeed خِلْتُهاI fancied it كُرسِيَّthe seat of خَدِّthe cheek of حَبيبَةٍa beloved woman
وَأَمسَكَهاand held it صَبٌّa lovesick man بِكلِّwith all الأَصابِعِthe fingers
And I fancied it the seat of a beloved woman's cheek,
And a lovesick man held it with all his fingers.
