فَإِنْfor if لَمnot تَكُنyou are تَقضيfulfill لِمِثليfor one like me لُبانةًa wish
فَإِنْ لَم تَكُن تَقضي لِمِثلي لُبانةً
لَدَيكَin your presence فَحلّthen abandon القصدthe quest فَالقصدُfor the quest خائبُfruitless
لَدَيكَ فَحلّ القصد فَالقصدُ خائبُ
For if you will not grant a wish to one like me
In your presence, then abandon the quest, for the quest is fruitless.
وَإِنْand if لَمnot يَنَلْattain مِثليone like me بِمِثلِكَthrough one like you مأرَباًan aim
وَإِنْ لَم يَنَلْ مِثلي بِمِثلِكَ مأرَباً
فَأَينَthen where الّذيthe one فيهِin whom تُنالare attained المآربُthe aims
فَأَينَ الّذي فيهِ تُنال المآربُ
And if one like me attains no aim through one like you,
Then where is the one through whom aims are attained?
