فَياOh, then حَبَّذاhow lovely is البدرُthe full moon مِنfrom حَيثُwhere أَبدىrevealed
عَلىupon البحرِthe sea نوراًa light بِهِby it قَرَّfound comfort عَيناin the eye
Oh, how lovely the full moon, for it has cast
upon the sea a light that gladdened the eye.
وَقَدand indeed كانَwas ذاthis البحرُthe sea مِنof لازَوَرْدٍlapis lazuli
فَمُنذُand since بَداappeared البدرُthe full moon صارbecame لُجَيْناsilver
And this sea had been of lapis lazuli;
and since the full moon appeared, it has turned to silver.
