لاdo not تَغتَرِرْbe deceived بِالَّذيby what أُوليتَyou were granted مِنof مِنَنٍfavors
لا تَغتَرِرْ بِالَّذي أُوليتَ مِن مِنَنٍ
عَلىaccording to هَواكَyour wishes فَقَدfor perhaps يؤذيdoes harm بكto you المِنَنُthe favors
عَلى هَواكَ فَقَد يؤذي بك المِنَنُ
Do not be deceived by the favors bestowed upon you
Do not be deceived by the favors you have been granted
To your liking, for favors may bring you harm.
Your desires may yet cause harm from such kindness
تَجريsail السّفائِنُthe ships فيin ريحٍa wind تُلائِمُهاsuits them
تَجري السّفائِنُ في ريحٍ تُلائِمُها
فيin السّيرِsailing لَكِنbut بِهاby it قَدmay تَغرَقُsink السفنُthe ships
في السّيرِ لَكِن بِها قَد تَغرَقُ السفنُ
Ships sail in a wind that suits them
Ships sail with winds that suit their course
On their course, yet by that wind the ships may sink.
Yet sailing winds may also wreck those ships
