إِنّindeed هَذاthis القَبرthe grave قَدalready حَلَّsettled بِهِin it
إِنّ هَذا القَبر قَد حَلَّ بِهِ
أَحمدُAhmad الاِسمِby name وَضيفٌand a guest لِلكَريمْof the Generous One
أَحمدُ الاِسمِ وَضيفٌ لِلكَريمْ
Indeed, within this grave there has come to dwell
Indeed, in this grave has come to rest
Ahmad by name, a guest of the Generous One.

هُوَhe عَبدُservant of العالِthe Most High للجنَّةِto Paradise قَدalready
هُوَ عَبدُ العالِ للجنَّةِ قَد
سارَjourneyed إِذْwhen ناداهُcalled him ذوpossessor of الفَضلِgrace العَميمboundless
سارَ إِذْ ناداهُ ذو الفَضلِ العَميم
He is ʿAbd al-ʿĀl; toward Paradise he has
He is the Most High’s servant; to Paradise he has
journeyed, when the One of all-embracing bounty called him.
journeyed when the One of boundless grace called him.
فَهوَthus he بِالرّضوانِin divine favor أَرّخmark the date آنسٌat ease
فَهوَ بِالرّضوانِ أَرّخ آنسٌ
وَعَلَيهِand upon him رَحمَةُmercy of اللَّهِGod الرَّحيمthe Merciful
وَعَلَيهِ رَحمَةُ اللَّهِ الرَّحيم
So, with “He is in divine favor,” mark the year—and take comfort.
Thus he is at ease in divine favor—mark the date—
And upon him be the mercy of God, the All-Merciful.
and upon him be the mercy of God, the Merciful.
