قَنِعتُI was content بِأَنّيwith the fact that I كلَّevery عامٍyear أَزورُهاI visit her
وَماand not كانَthere was فيamong العشّاقِthe lovers مِثليone like me وَلاnor شبهيmy equal
I have been content to visit her each year;
And among lovers there was none like me, nor my equal.
وَلَوand even if كلّevery حينٍmoment صارَcame to be ليfor me وَجهُgrounds for زَورَةٍa visit
أَقولُI say عَلىaccording to وَهميmy supposition لعلّيperhaps I بِلاwithout وَجهِa face; standing
And even if, at every moment, I had grounds for a visit,
I would say in my misgivings, “Perhaps I have no face to show.”
