وَبَدرand a full moon جَمالof beauty كَالردينيِّlike a Rudayni spear قَدّهُhis stature
يَميلُhe sways فَيزريand so puts to shame الغصنthe bough فيin حُسنِthe beauty of مَيلتهْhis sway
And a full moon of beauty, his stature like a Rudayni spear,
sways, putting the bough to shame with the beauty of his sway.
لَطيفٌdelicate فَلَوso if يَمشيhe were to walk عَلىupon الأَرضِthe earth لَمnot تَكُنit would be
تُحِسُّbe aware بِهِof him مِنowing to لُطفِهِhis delicacy ثمَّmoreover سرعَتِهhis swiftness
So delicate—were he to walk upon the earth, it would not
feel him, owing to his delicacy and, moreover, his swiftness.
كَذلِكَlikewise لَوif يَمشيhe were to walk عَلىupon جفنِthe eyelid of مُقلَتيmy eye
لَماwould not شَعَرتhave been aware مِنّيof mine الجفونُthe eyelids بِمشيَتِهof his tread
Likewise, were he to walk upon the lid of my eye,
my eyelids would not feel his tread.
