This basin, O minister,

is undoubtedly the better of you two.

زالَ بِهِ عَنّا الظّما

زالَ بِهِ عَنّا الظّما

فَعَنكَ زالَ ضَيرُكما

فَعَنكَ زالَ ضَيرُكما

Through it, thirst has left us;

so the harm of you both has left you.

وَلَم يَكُن بِمِثلِهِ

وَلَم يَكُن بِمِثلِهِ

قَد جادَ أَرِّخ غيرُكما

قَد جادَ أَرِّخ غيرُكما

And none had, with its like,

shown generosity—record the date—except you two.
