Indeed, the noble al-Kuzbari journeyed by night, mounted
Indeed, the gallant al-Kuzbari journeyed by night, riding
on the steed of resolve—armed with firm judgment, not bundles.
The mount of resolve, equipped with prudence, not with saddle-girths.
وَكانَand was مَقصِدُهhis destination القدسَJerusalem الّتيwhich شَرُفتwas honored

حَقّاً بِصَخرَتِها وَالمَسجِدِ الحرمِ
His destination was Jerusalem, which was ennobled
And his destination was Jerusalem, which was honored
truly by its Rock and its sacred mosque.
Truly, by its Rock and the sacred mosque.
وَزارَand he visited صَخرَتهاits Rock الفُضلىmost excellent وَمَسجِدَهاand its mosque

He visited its most excellent Rock and its mosque,
And he visited its most excellent Rock and its mosque,
and visited every revered place there.
And he visited every revered place there.
وَزارَand he visited كلَّevery نَبيّprophet ثَمّthere جُثّتهhis body

He visited every prophet whose mortal remains lie there,
And he visited every prophet whose body lay there,
and every saint whose footing is firm.
And he visited every saint whose footing was firm.

He returned from it, the lights of divine acceptance rising
And he returned from it as the lights of acceptance rose
over his countenance, marked with beauty.
Upon his face, marked with beauty.

And he settled in Jillīq—Damascus—erasing her ignorance,
And he settled in Jilliq, erasing its ignorance,
as the full moon dispels the shadows of the blackest night.
Just as the full moon erased the dark night's gloom.

May God never let the endeavor he undertook go to waste, nor
ever show him, through all time, misery or affliction.
Show him, throughout his life, any misery or afflictions.
