    Husayn’s down appeared upon his cheek,

    Like the loveliest lashes that eyelids have revealed.

    بَل خِلتهُ المِسك فيهِ الوردُ مزدانُ

    So I fancied it myrtle, appearing to us above the rose;

    Rather, I fancied it musk, with which the rose is adorned.

    So behold Husayn’s face, for perfection has appeared,

    Blooming upon it, untouched by any flaw.

    Should his beholder seek from him, while composing his chronogram,

    A glimpse, sweet basil would appear above the rose.
