تَأَمَّلْcontemplate نُجومَthe stars of الأفقِthe horizon لَيلاًat night وَإِذand as تسريyou journey by night
تَنالُyou attain سُرورَjoy of القَلبِthe heart وَالشّرحand relief للصدرِfor the breast
Contemplate the horizon's stars at night, and as you journey;
Gaze at the horizon's stars in the night as they move,
You will find joy in your heart and ease in your breast.
Bringing joy to the heart and expansiveness to the chest,
وَشاهِدand behold جَمالَthe beauty of البدرِthe full moon فيin اللّيلthe night طالعاًrising
فَإِنَّfor indeed سَنِيَّresplendent الحُسنِbeauty فيin طَلعَةِthe face of البدرِthe full moon
And behold the beauty of the full moon rising in the night;
And witness the beauty of the moon rising in the night,
For resplendent beauty lies in the full moon's face.
For the radiance of its beauty is in the rising of the full moon.
وَحَدِّقand gaze intently إِلىat زُهرِthe bright stars of السّماءِthe sky فَإِنّهاfor they
بِجنحِunder the wing of الدّجىnight's darkness تَزهوthey shine proudly إِلىuntil مَطلعِthe rising of الفَجرِdawn
And gaze intently at the sky's bright stars, for they
Look closely at the flowers of the sky, for they
Shine under night's dark wing until the break of dawn.
Blossom in the wings of night towards the rise of dawn.
وَماand not هِيَthey إِلّاexcept البدرُthe full moon حَيثُwhere تَجمّعتthey gathered
وَماand not كَوكبa star مِنهاamong them سِوىother than الكوكبthe star الدّرّيpearl-bright
And they are nothing but the full moon when gathered together,
They are but the full moon gathered together,
And no star among them is other than the pearl-bright star.
And not a star among them but the bright celestial one.
فَمَنso whoever قالَsaid زُهرthe bright stars of الأفقthe horizon لَيسَتare not بِبَدرهِits full moon
فَدَعهُthen leave him فَإنّfor indeed البدرَthe full moon لَيسَis not سِوىother than الزُّهرِthe bright stars
So whoever says the horizon's stars are not its full moon,
So let him who says the flowers of the sky are not the moon,
Leave him be, for the full moon is nothing but the bright stars.
Leave him be, for the full moon is none other than the flower.

He is the intrepid, fulfilling one, and my intimate, the chaste.

Eloquent in expression, with wondrous eloquence,
Eloquent in speech, excelling in the wonders of rhetoric,
In which all the magic contained in expression takes pride.
With which the very best of eloquence is confounded,

May God favor him—what a noble, high-minded, refined man!
To him belongs self-respect, courageous, refined,
He became the world's foremost man, became the age's peerless one.
Who has made the world his carpet and himself its unique master.

A necklace's matchless pearl, herself a necklace of verse,
A unique string of pearls, woven strands,
She has indeed cheapened the worth of precious pearls.
I have discounted the value of this precious jewel.

And you regard welcoming as one of a noble man's traits.
For you see acceptance as a trait of the noble.
