رَأيتُI saw ضِياءَthe radiance of الشّمسِthe sun قربَnear غِيابِهاits setting
يَدورُcircles عَلَيهاaround it حَيثُwhere أَمسىit passed the evening وَأَصبَحاand passed the morning
I saw the sun’s radiance near its setting,
Circling around it wherever it was at evening and morning,
كَماءِlike the water of إِناءٍa vessel مُستَديرround مُبيضwhitened
يَدورُcircles بِهِwithin it دَوماًalways كَماjust as دارَتِturned الرّحىthe millstone
Like water in a round, whitened vessel,
Ever circling within it, as a millstone turns.
