وَقاضيAnd a judge قَريَةٍof a village قَدindeed قالَsaid أَقضيI pass judgment
لِذيfor one with دَعوىa claim بِهاin it عَينٌtangible property ودينُand debt
And a village judge once said, “I pass judgment
for one whose claim involves tangible property and debt.
وَليand I have شَرعٌsacred law هوَit is المِيزانُthe balance قِسطاًin justice
وَعِنديand in my view لَيسَthere is not لِلميزانِfor the balance عينُan eye
And I have sacred law, the balance of justice;
and in my view, the balance has no eye.”
