قَيِّدِbind النّعمَةthe blessing فيin شُكرٍgratitude لَهاfor it
قَيِّدِ النّعمَة في شُكرٍ لَها
ماnothing سِوىexcept الشّكرِgratitude شكّالِa fetter for النّعمِblessings
ما سِوى الشّكرِ شكّالِ النّعمِ
Bind the blessing with gratitude for it.
Bind gratitude with thanks for it
Nothing but gratitude can fetter blessings.
Naught but thanks can shape grace’s form
إِنْif تَدعْyou abandon شُكراًgratitude عَلَيهاfor it هَرَبَتit flees
إِنْ تَدعْ شُكراً عَلَيها هَرَبَت
وَندمتَand you will regret الدّهرَforever كلَّall النّدمِregret
وَندمتَ الدّهرَ كلَّ النّدمِ
If you abandon gratitude for it, it flees,
If you lack in thanks for it, it fled
and you will regret it forever, with utter regret.
And you'll regret it, regret supreme
