قَدindeed أَتاناhe came to us عِندَat الصباحِthe morning شَريفٌa nobleman
نِلتُI suffered مِنهُfrom him العَذابَtorment نَوعاًone kind نَوعاanother kind
A nobleman came to us in the morning;
From him I suffered torment, kind after kind.
كُلَّماwhenever يَنثَنيhe turns أَنالُI experience اِنزِعاجاًdistress
كَيفَhow لاnot وَهوَwhen he راعَhe terrified قلبيَmy heart رَوعاwith terror
Whenever he turns, I feel distress—
How could I not, when he has struck my heart with terror?
