سَرى ماءُ المُحيّا مُستسِرّاً

سَرى ماءُ المُحيّا مُستسِرّاً

وَظلَّ مِنَ الحَيا يَسري خَفيّا

وَظلَّ مِنَ الحَيا يَسري خَفيّا

The water of his face flowed in secret,

Flowed the water of Muhayya secretly

And from the rain it kept flowing unseen.

And shade from serpents crept stealthily

وَبانَ عِذارُهُ المُخضَرُّ فيهِ

وَبانَ عِذارُهُ المُخضَرُّ فيهِ

ومدَّ عليه مثلَ الظلِّ فَيّا

ومدَّ عليه مثلَ الظلِّ فَيّا

And his green cheek-down appeared upon it,

Green was its gentle greenery therein

And spread over it a shade like a shadow.

Stretching over it, canopy-like nearly

وَلَم يَكُ نابِتاً إِلّا دَليلاً

وَلَم يَكُ نابِتاً إِلّا دَليلاً

يَدلُّ بِهِ عَلى ماءِ المُحيّا

يَدلُّ بِهِ عَلى ماءِ المُحيّا

And it sprouted only as a sign,

Naught grew thereon save to reveal

Pointing thereby to the water of his face.
