فَهِمتُ سَمعاً أُعاني الشّوقَ وَالقَلقا
And one endowed with splendor—my ear has indeed heard of him;
A beauty with splendor has graced my ears, for they have heard
So I fell in love through hearing, suffering longing and unrest.
And comprehended an audition that has pained me with yearning and disquietude

Since the heart was struck through my ear as it listened
Since the heart in my ear was branded, when it hearkened
By winds bearing word of his splendor, my heart burned.
To winds of a remembrance that set my heart aflame
