And I kissed his mouth, sipping his saliva,

And repeatedly smelled the rose of that cheek.

Then he said, "Why this smelling? Woe to you—slow down!

You keep repeating it; I know not where it will stop."

So I said to him, "My soul, your saliva is wine,

And drinking wine is pleasant only with roses."
