وَقاضٍand a judge تَولّىtook charge of الشّرعthe law وَالشّرعُand the law عَينُهُhis eye
بِهاthrough it يَظهرُappears الحقُّthe truth المُبينmanifest وَيَسطعُand shines
And a judge took charge of the law, and the law was his eye;
A judge assumed control of the law, and the law was his eye,
Through it, manifest truth appears and shines.
With it, the evident truth appears and shines,
وَلَمّاand when عَلىupon الثلثينِthe two-thirds مِنهُof it قَدِalready اِنطَوىhe harbored

And when he had harbored two-thirds of it,
And when the two thirds of it were folded,
He then began to gouge out the law’s eye.
From there the eye of the law began to be plucked
