لَقَدindeed زَارَنيhe visited me لَيلاًat night فَقُمتso I rose ضَممتهُI embraced him
لَقَد زَارَني لَيلاً فَقُمت ضَممتهُ
فَقَدfor indeed صارَbecame جِسماناour two bodies كَجِسمlike one body تَجَسَّداtook bodily form
فَقَد صارَ جِسمانا كَجِسم تَجَسَّدا
He visited me by night; I rose and embraced him.
Indeed, he visited me at night, so I rose and embraced him.
And our two bodies became like one body made flesh.
For our two bodies became like a single body that had taken form.
وَلاand no عَجبَwonder أَنّاthat we كحَرفينlike two letters أُدغِماthe two were assimilated
وَلا عَجبَ أَنّا كحَرفين أُدغِما
فَصاراso the two became لَدىupon الإِدغامassimilation حَرفاًone letter مُشَدّداdoubled (geminated)
فَصارا لَدى الإِدغام حَرفاً مُشَدّدا
No wonder: we are like two letters assimilated into one another,
And no wonder that we were like two letters assimilated:
which, through assimilation, became a single geminated letter.
So, upon assimilation, they became a single doubled letter.
