نَبِيُّ حُسنٍ إِلى دينِ الغَرامِ دَعا

جَهراً فَمَن لَم يُجبْ يَفنى بِصارِمِهِ

جَهراً فَمَن لَم يُجبْ يَفنى بِصارِمِهِ

A prophet of beauty called to the faith of passionate love,

Openly; whoever fails to answer perishes by his keen sword.

قالوا يُحلِّلُ قُلنا قَتلَ عاشقِهِ

قالوا يُحلِّلُ قُلنا قَتلَ عاشقِهِ

قالوا يُحِرِّم قلنا وَصْلَ مُغرَمِهِ

قالوا يُحِرِّم قلنا وَصْلَ مُغرَمِهِ

They asked what he permits; we said, 'The killing of his lover.'

They asked what he forbids; we said, 'Union with his enamored lover.'
