لاdo not تَحتَقِرْscorn ياO لَيثُlion أَهلَpeople of عَداوَةٍenmity
لا تَحتَقِرْ يا لَيثُ أَهلَ عَداوَةٍ
مِثلَlike الكلابِthe dogs تَعدُّهمyou regard them تَحقيراcontemptuously
مِثلَ الكلابِ تَعدُّهم تَحقيرا
Do not scorn, O lion, those who bear enmity,
regarding them contemptuously as dogs.
فَمِنَfor among الكِلابِthe dogs مُخوِّفٌone that frightens بنُباحهِwith its barking
فَمِنَ الكِلابِ مُخوِّفٌ بنُباحهِ
وَمِنَand among الأكالِبthe dogs ماone that يَكونُis عَقوراa vicious biter
وَمِنَ الأكالِب ما يَكونُ عَقورا
For among dogs are those that frighten with their barking,
and among dogs are those that bite savagely.
