لَئِن بُليتَ بِذي إِفْكٍ وَذي كَذِبٍ

لَئِن بُليتَ بِذي إِفْكٍ وَذي كَذِبٍ

رَماكَ في قَولِ زُورٍ مِن جَهالَتِهِ

رَماكَ في قَولِ زُورٍ مِن جَهالَتِهِ

If you are afflicted by one given to calumny and lies,

If indeed you are afflicted by one given to slander and lies,

who hurls false words at you out of his ignorance,

who assails you with false words out of his ignorance,

فَاللَّهُ إِنْ حَبَّ عَبداً يَبتَليهِ فَلا

فَاللَّهُ إِنْ حَبَّ عَبداً يَبتَليهِ فَلا

تَضجَرْ فَإِنَّ البَلايا مِن مَحبَّتِهِ

تَضجَرْ فَإِنَّ البَلايا مِن مَحبَّتِهِ

for when God loves a servant, He puts him to trial—so do not

for if God loves a servant, He tests him—so do not

chafe; afflictions spring from His love.

grow impatient, for afflictions come from His love.
