إِنّ اِجتَماعَ القَومِ في ساعَةٍ

إِنّ اِجتَماعَ القَومِ في ساعَةٍ

لَيلاً مِنَ الصّفوِ يُعدُّ اِختِلاسْ

لَيلاً مِنَ الصّفوِ يُعدُّ اِختِلاسْ

Indeed, when the company gathers for an hour

Indeed, the company’s gathering for an hour

amid nights of beauty, it is reckoned a stolen moment;

at night is deemed a stolen moment of serenity.

وَكَيِّس القَومِ الّذي لَم يَنَم

وَكَيِّس القَومِ الّذي لَم يَنَم

وَبارد القَومِ كَثيرِ النّعاس

وَبارد القَومِ كَثيرِ النّعاس

the shrewd one among them is he who has not slept,

And the clever one among them is he who did not sleep,

and the dullard among them is much given to drowsiness.

and the dull one among them is much given to drowsiness.
