نَبِيَّةُ حُسنٍ دَعَت لِلهَوى

نَبِيَّةُ حُسنٍ دَعَت لِلهَوى

فَقُلنا أَلا آيةً تَعتبرْ

فَقُلنا أَلا آيةً تَعتبرْ

A prophetess of beauty called for love.

A beauty of prophesy called to passion

So we said, 'Will you not show a sign to heed?'

So we said, "Will you not take a sign to heart?"

فَأَرْخَتْ على خدِّها سالفاً

فَأَرْخَتْ على خدِّها سالفاً

فَحالاً أَرَتْنا اِنشِقاقَ القَمرْ

فَحالاً أَرَتْنا اِنشِقاقَ القَمرْ

So she let a sidelock fall upon her cheek,

Then she let down a lock upon her cheek

And at once she showed us the splitting of the moon.

And at once we saw the moon split open.
