And by one rosy of cheek, with narcissus-like glances,
With his narcissus-hued cheek and roseate complexion
For whom the most devout ascetics have fallen in love, all ears;
The ascetics incline a heedful ear, utterly enraptured;

And the truthful enchantment of his gaze's magic
From whose glance the masters of magic have passed down their lore;
From which the masters of enchantment's knowledge narrate

Are his mole-adorned temples that tell of scorpions
That harbor a sting for the yearning lover's entrails;
Having stung the innermost being of the lover that languishes

Of musk, curled above the pomegranate blossom;
Over which pure musk the beauties have smeared

And his cheeks have been enflamed by beauty and shyness
Upon which the hearts of lovers have been seared;
Upon which the hearts of lovers have been utterly branded

And my affection for him endures, and I heed no
My love for him is lasting - I do not heed
Words but those of the tempters who have strayed in love.
The speech of other than those enraptured by love and desire

And I seek union with him, and shall surely disregard
And my desire of him is to seek and maintain connection
The words of an envious person and the reproachers, should they howl.
Turning away from the talk of envious and chaste if they deter

And by God, I shall not forget him, even if I become a rotting corpse,
By God, I would not refrain, even if I became withered dregs
And even if the reproachers cut my flesh and roast it.
Even if the rebuker had chopped my flesh, utterly lacerated

And my thought of forgetting him has no existence—
And they ask me to refrain, but nonexistent is one who would prohibit me
And how could I, when my entrails enfold love for him?
How could they when my entrails are utterly enveloped by his passion
